Telecom Compliance (A2P 10DLC)
Step-by-step instructions for obtaining US Carrier approval via the Twilio Trust Hub so your AI texts don't get blocked by AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile.

1Start Campaign Registration
To prevent spam, US Telecom operators require businesses to register their Tax ID and use case. If you do not configure this, your Astra text updates will fail with Error 30034.
- Go to your Twilio Console > Messaging > Regulatory Compliance > Onboarding.
- Register your Business Profile as a "Low Volume Standard Brand" (if you're a startup) or "Sole Proprietor".
- Once approved, click Create a new A2P Campaign.
2Provide Compliant Details
Human reviewers evaluate this form. Paste the exact text below to ensure immediate approval:
3Bind Phone Number
- Submit the form and click Finish Setup.
- Wait for Twilio and Verizon/AT&T to manually approve your campaign.
- The final step is to click into your new Campaign and bind your Twilio Phone Number to the active Messaging Service. All Astra texts will now flow flawlessly.
Important Advisory: The Telecom carrier compliance queue often takes several weeks to fully process. Due to very strict US Anti-Spam laws, the outbound SMS features of your AI Agent will remain completely inactive and will fail to deliver messages until the carriers mark your Trust Hub application as 100% compliant.
Your business is now fully verified for carrier-grade US Telecommunications!
4Activate SMS in HeyAstra
- Once your A2P campaign is approved by the carriers, go to your HeyAstra Dashboard.
- Navigate to the Integrations tab.
- In the SMS Configuration section, toggle SMS to Enabled.
- Customize your post-call text message templates. You can use variables like
{{business_name}}and{{call_status}}. - Click Save. Your AI agent will now automatically text callers after completed or booked calls.
Pro tip: Your AI receptionist can also send SMS messages during a live call — for example, texting a booking link while still on the phone with the caller.
